Yan ZHANG

Profile

Dr. Zhang holds a Ph.D. in Microelectronics from Chonnam National University in Korea and has carried out postdoctoral research at Pusan National University (Korea) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

From 2018 to 2021 he worked in patent practice at a well-known firm handling foreign-related IP matters, where he prosecuted a large volume of PCT applications entering China for leading overseas semiconductor companies and prepared more than 1,000 high-quality responses to Chinese office actions. Studying foreign patents and their prosecution history in depth also gave him extensive experience with the issues that commonly arise in Chinese examination.

In late 2021 he joined a high-technology start-up as the person responsible for patent, trademark and copyright matters. Building on that experience and on a case-by-case study of his own work, he gradually developed a methodology for raising patent quality, and joined Shanghai KEWEIP as a Senior Partner in November 2023, focusing on more precise, more professional and higher-value IP services for innovators.
